Active Constituents: Alkaloids including L-stachydrine, beinicine and turicine. Iridoid (leonine), diterpenes, flavonoids, caffeic acid, cardiac glycosides and tannins.

Major Safety Issues:
- As this is a uterine stimulant it should be avoided during pregnancy however, may be used during labour and after birth.
- Avoid wherever there is heavy menstrual bleeding.
- Use with caution as there can be adverse effects on the heart particularly in people with heart insufficiency.
- Very large doses may cause drowsiness and impaired concentration.
