Tame your Gout with Herbs that Support the Kidney and Urinary System

If you suffer from gout, you know that it can cause strong pain, joint stiffness, and swelling.  But there are herbs that will help your kidneys and urinary system to work better and reduce your symptoms.

What is Gout?

Gout is actually a form of arthritis.  But this form of arthritis is specifically caused by excess uric acid in the blood.  This excess acid forms crystals of uric acid in the joints causing pain.

The most common area to experience gout is the big toe, though it can affect any joint in the body.  People with gout typically experience a sudden attack of pain that has no warning.

Medical doctors will typically prescribe medications to reduce the inflammation and help prevent flare ups.  It’s also important to treat these issues because gout can also lead to painful kidney stones, which are deposits of uric acid crystals that form on the surface of joints or on the skin.

Herbal Support

The best way to deal with gout is to support the kidneys and urinary system.  When they work properly, gout can be prevented.  Let’s take a look at some of the best herbs for supporting proper kidney function.

Green tea.  Green tea is a powerful antioxidant that can help with a number of health issues.  In the case of the kidneys, green tea contains polyphenols which help stop the formation of kidney stones and prevent kidney disease.

Goldenrod.  Goldenrod has been used for thousands of years to improve urinary health.  It helps detoxify the kidneys and keep the urinary tract running smoothly.

Celery Seed.  Celery seed extract helps to reduce the amount of uric acid that builds up in the body.  You can also get the benefits from drinking celery juice.  Or if you prefer you can buy celery seed extract supplements in the form of capsules.

Nettle Tea.  Nettle tea provides your body with anti-inflammatory chemicals.  Drinking it regularly can help prevent the formation of uric acid crystals.  If you don’t like the flavor of the tea you can also use nettle supplements.

Turmeric.  Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant that reduces inflammation all over the body.  If you’re suffering from gout, this herb can help calm down the swelling, inflammation, and pain in your joints.  It will not only support your kidneys but other areas of the body as well.  You can find turmeric in capsule, liquid or powder form.

Alternatively, an effective specific herbal liquid mix can be made to address the causes and symptoms of gout.  By taking a small amount twice daily, it can be an effective preventative and also a quick remedy if gout starts to take hold in your body!

And, should you not like drinking tea, these herbs also can be given via a pure, high quality liquid tincture for your convenience (ensure they are high quality pure herbs from a reputable practitioner!).

Diet

So, if you are a gout sufferer, the best thing you can do for yourself is avoid sugar, grains and excessive red meat.  Sugar feeds the yeast in your body and grains turn into sugar.  In regards to red meat, it is full of hormones and antibiotics and is extremely acidic for your body.

Black Cherry JuiceBlack Cherry Juice has very similar actions to Celery Juice in the way it acts in the body.  It reduces inflammation and the uric acid build-up.  Celery and Black Cherry, taken daily can be an extremely fast and effective remedy for reducing gout attacks.
